ONE TIME AGE AND ATTEMPT RELAXATION TO UPSC ASPIRANTS IN 2021 DUE TO PANDEMIC
The Issue
As we all know, Covid-19 has immensely impacted all spheres of life. It has impacted all categories of people including students. The whole country had to witness a strict lockdown due to this pandemic which extended for more than half a year . Many parts of the country are even re-imposing the lockdown due to this uncontrollable pandemic. The magnitude of the situation can be understood by the fact that all the exams whether competitive or University level had to be postponed .Even UPSC had postpone its exams. With uncertainty coming up, it is a difficult year for all the civil service aspirants who are also badly affected because lockdown has impacted their preparation.
CIVIL SERVICE ASPIRANTS BEING BADLY AFFECTED IN MANY WAYS, SOME OF WHICH ARE MENTIONED BELOW- Mostly , candidates prepare for CSE staying away from their home state and stay in other cities in rented rooms . Due to lockdown, aspirants
1). Couldn't get enough study material due to closed coaching centres. In coaching centres they lacked the staff who PREPARED these study materials.
2). Aspirants couldn't return to their home States as transportation was badly affected.
3).Aspirants staying in rooms on rent had to face difficulties as they could not pay rent on time .
Newspapers published news of the bad situation in Mukherjee nagar etc in Delhi.
4).As of August there is no sign of coaching centres to reopen.
5).Extremely inconvenient online classes due to - *frequent disruptions in network *Online classes lack personalization *Problem in raising some doubts or questions due to lack of direct contact of each student with teachers *Aspirants in remote areas of the country with limited availability of electricity and internet face challenges.
* In short the dedication & resources needed to prepare for CSE suffered to the fullest in this era of pandemic.
Thus UPSC and Dopt should consider giving one time relaxation in age and attempt to compensate for the loss.It would benefit lakhs of aspirants all over India.
