Reforming the Justice System of the Philippines

The Issue

Criminal justice is the process of bringing persons who have committed crimes to justice. Justice entails not only punishing criminals but also recusing innocent people. In general, a justice system consists of three key components: law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Additional components, such as the society and the judiciary, may exist in other countries, including the Philippines. The Philippines is known for having a higher rate of criminal activity. However, as time passes, many people who deserve justice are unable to receive it. Cases like this are now frequent. The poor, who has always seemed to have the least access to justice, are now taking the burden of it. When you don't have enough money, justice will be unfair to you; yet, if you're wealthy and can provide more money, you may be able to get justice even if you're the criminal. What was supposed to be a precise tool for maintaining law and order has devolved into a rough weapon that most people don't trust. This is the basis for the contemporary embrace of violence, as well as all of the justifications offered for it. Many Filipinos believe it is better to remove society's impurities because the system is so broken. It's a terrible hope, something that we can all recognize if we're honest, but one that we should eventually reject if we're decent. Lawyers argue that the only way to address systematic unfairness is to reform the judiciary, the criminal system, and the police all at the same time. However, that system must first be challenged in order to demonstrate that its malfunction has serious effects, and the only people who may lawfully file charges are those who have been abused, the majority of those are too poor and afraid to do so.

Our country's justice system needs reform; we all know how difficult it is to reform and modify our criminal justice system, but it is the best approach to not only fight injustice but also to speed up court rules and procedures. Our criminal legislation now has a gap that has to be filled, thus the government must reinforce and identify the flaws in criminal procedures and court jurisdiction. In addition, the Department of Justice must take any action necessary to clean up the corrupt and unlawful conduct of authorities who have used their power for the benefit of others. In reality, we must embrace and follow the justice systems of other countries because most countries now use this type of system, whereas the one we have is a poor criminal system that is utilized by only a few countries. We all understand the importance of fairness to everyone, especially the poorer classes in our society. If our petition is successful, we will have a good justice system that can effectively resolve criminal situations while also ensuring that justice is served to all citizens of our country. And we believe that a good leader is required to accomplish this, a leader who understands that government is not about enforcing rules but about serving as a role model for how to follow them and who has a desire to reform our judicial system.
