This week, the federal government has been debating the controversial religious discrimination bill. The bill in its current form will allow religious schools to discriminate against LGBTIQ+ teachers and students. The Bill passed the lower house but you can help stop it in the Senate.
Right now Labor and Coalition Senators need to hear from you - tap here to send them an email.
This federal Bill could override existing federal, state and territory protections against discrimination and permit religious schools to sack LGBTIQ+ teachers.
Labor is moving to have remove the ‘statements of belief’ clause - which seeks to protect statements of belief - from the Bill, but that’s not going far enough.
The ‘statements of belief’ clause is definitely one of the more terrifying aspects of the Bill, but it’s not the only troubling element. This Bill is still a sword, not a shield and we simply can’t deliver protections for some people of faith at the expense of others.
The Senate vote is our last chance to stop this Bill. You can tap here to send an email and have your voice heard.
When we raise our voices as one, decision-makers in Canberra cannot ignore us. Thank you for your continued support as we fight to protect each other.
