The Issue

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many students from PHSD(Penn Hills School District) Started using a website called Edgenuity. If you dont know Edgenuity is an educational website. It gives you videos to watch, assignments, and quizes. Now you are probally thinking that its not bad, but Edgenuity have been stressing alot of srudents out. When students are stress they feel like they cant do it,and when you feel like you cant do something some of the students let it stack up.Grades have been going down some straight A students got C's and D's. Now I appreciate the teachers and staff who are working with the computers and students. Many students have also felt over worked. Students say that it is too much work for them to do in a day.As I have said you have videos, assignments, and a quiz. Imagine having 4-6 classes with 6 things to do.(introduction, assaignments, quizes and/or unit tests summaryand reveiw sometimes) I dont know if thats in order but thats what i remember.Students have also been complaining about how "boring" it is. It is not entertaining at all no fun learning videos, no learning games nothing! Students sit infront of a screen watching people talk slowly and do assignments for MANY hours, and on that hand many students have a busy schedule. The children have to do their work then go to thier virtural meetings! Kids need time to be kids they have 6-7 hours of work to do in a regular school day, but with Edgenuity some students have to do school for 7-9 hours.(thats 2 more hours than usual) Students also get anxiety because of the quizes they have a time limit for I beleive 1hour.Instead of doing the work kids can be looking at the timer worrying if they run out of time, not all students can move at the same paste.
