Get all martial arts back on the GCSE and A level physical education sports list

The Issue

Martial arts have become more popular than ever, yet students are not able to use these sports as part of their GCSE’s and A level. I started taekwondo at the age of 4 and have now been doing it for 14 years. In that time i have been part of the junior england squad team twice, won a silver at the 2016 world championships and a gold at the 2018 world championships, as well as countless other medals, with multiple medals in +18 categories while i was 16 and 17. Despite my hard work and success, as well as my school recognising my achievements, i am not able to use taekwondo towards part of my alevels, nor for my GCSE’s last year. The list of sports focus mainly on popular and widely watched sports, such as football and rugby and other school recognised sports, such as badminton, tennis and athletics, Yet those who started a difficult and disciplined sport from a young age are not recognised by the government.
