With already 765 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and a spike of 111 in one day, COVID-19 cases WILL only be increasing at an exponential rate, and the only way to stop this deadly virus is through quarantine measures, that means closing Australian schools and university.

1. Australian schools currently have an average of 800-1000 students per school, and 20-30 students per class. Whilst university lecture halls can hold 500+ students. This means that if an individual in the school or university gets COVID-19, undoubtedly there will be other cases within the school. This has been seen with the Adelaide student contracting COVID-19 from an infected teacher.

2. America, Italy, Korea, Japan, China, Canada have all closed their schools to protect their future generation, and delay the spread of COVID-19 until a vaccination comes out. Yet, how does Australia respond "Schools, Universities will continue to run" " It is too early to close Australian schools". What are we waiting for? More students and members of the public to become infected by the deadly COVID-19 virus? This will only drain our healthcare system, unnecessarily.

3. Teachers are bailing out on school to protect themselves from the virus, leaving students with casual teachers that have a minimal idea on where the class is at. Online Teaching, however, provides the safety and health of students, teachers and members of the public, as well as guaranteed education, students may even be more focused as they have no distractions from their friends and online learning gives students one-on-one interactions with the teacher.

4. Many students, especially high school and university students travel to school through public transport, this puts the public, especially the elderlies in danger of contracting the virus. Online learning, however, will allow students to learn from home, hence unnecessary travel and contact with the public are avoided.

Hence, PLEASE close Australian schools and protect our future generations and our members of the public from this deadly virus. In this day and age, technology allows students to take classes online, such as Google Hangouts and Classroom which allows students to hand in tasks with a deadline, Pre-recorded videos such as Wootubeand live streams are also common, university courses are usually self-driven with recorded lectures and slides. Hence, there will be minimal disruptions to the education of students in this pandemic, as well as minimizing unnecessary travel from students. The virus has already spread to over 150 countries, with over 250,000 cases and 9000 deaths in merely two months. Please protect our future generations and members of the public and close NSW schools.
