Bring Back Home Economics to Mississippi Public Schools

The Issue

I represent a campaign called, Healing Our Mississippi everyone HOMe.  After carful analysis of our state, we found that less than 50% of residents know how to prepare healthy meals, sew, mend, set a table or appropriately care for children. Our issues in Mississippi are obesity, hypertension, cardiac disease, depression, poverty and more that can be changed by educating ones in home making, child care, healthy & econimal food preparation.  This woud extremely empower Mississippi.  I am a Registered Nurse and Reserve Army Nurse Corp Captain Honorably Discharged.  I have a garden; I canned foods from my last garden and saved much money in groceries.  I cook well.  I make clothes and mend also.  This all related to my foundation in Highschool Home Economics 1978-80.  My former Home Economics teachers and other retired teachers have voiced an interest in volunteering time to help regain this much needed and desired program of success.  I have a mentoring organization that is called Auntees and Uncles Anonymous; we teach some of these necessities.  We would benefit tremendously by bringing back Home Economics to our public schools.  Trust me; I know what I'm talking about.
