DCF, Department of Children and Families is a much needed program in Massachusetts taking abused and neglected children from parents that are not doing their role in their children’s lives keeping them safe and cared for. They also remove difficult children that are tough to deal with from homes and try to rehabilitate them before they become difficult adults. 
In my opinion, as an adult that grew up in that very same system under a different name, Department of Social Services, this is a much needed entity. 
The problem is in this day and age, they are taking advantage of their authority, that apparently no one questions, and they take children from good families, split up the kids and parents, and basically do whatever they can to ultimately steal these kids. 
My girlfriend recently had her two sons taken away from her while living in my very adequate house, that was always full of food. They followed up with a physician visit we had with the pediatrician to get shots updated, mostly to find something as a red flag. The pediatrician told DCF about a bite mark on the younger boys back that didn’t even break skin from the older brother. (They are 2 and 3 years old). DCF told them to file a 51A that basically gave them the right to come take our boys, apparently by any means necessary. they came to our house during bedtime around 8pm when we were putting them to bed. They asked to come in to speak to my girlfriend, and brought up the bite mark. She explained what happened and that she separated them in the middle of it. If we are all honest with each other, who hasn’t taken a shot or given a shot to their brother or sister. There have been many times one was aggressive to the other and we separated and non-physically reprimanded. At that point in the DCF visit they said we had to bring the boys to the hospital for evaluation To determine child abuse or they were taking them on an emergency reason. Yes they were trying to say we put the marks there. So of course we complied. They brought the boys and mother to the hospital where they sat in a little ER room till 3-4 in the morning because the pediatrician they wanted to have evaluate the boys and determine abuse wasn’t in till 9am. They finally found a somewhat adequate room for them so the boys could sleep between 3 and 4. That sounds more like abuse to me than anything we could do. When they did see the pediatrician the Dr. said it wasn’t abuse, and even wrote a statement that didn’t even surface until last week saying he saw no reason for the removal of the children. After they saw the Dr., DCF still took the kids based on neglect!

During the time DCF has been in our lives, she has been hopping through every hoop the put in front of her. Taking parenting courses, domestic abuse and violence courses, because this is all stemming from the father of the boys that physically and emotionally abused her, and even courses she has not been required to take. Before we were able to afford a lawyer in place of the court appointed one that was clearly out to help DCF, the DCF attorney would pound and attack her in the courtroom putting her to tears every time. 

they were taken in November of 2019. And we are still fighting. The boys have been constantly sick, have gotten black eyes and other bruises all over their bodies. The younger one had the back of his ear torn open. That particular injury is questionable because they said he fell which isn't consistent with a back of ear injury. Meanwhile they were taken from us for one bite mark on the younger boy’s back. We have a paid lawyer, but as you can imagine, this Covid thing has dampened that dramatically. In this time, she has had 4 different workers. This blows my mind. Because they scream they want consistency from her, but there is nothing consistent about their process. None of the workers have had the same idea of how she is progressing in her requirements. None of them have checked in with the services and counselors she has been ordered to see. All of which would say the same things. That she has been doing her do diligence and that she is a caring mother. There are some programs that we need DCF referrals for and they said they put them in months ago and we are on waiting lists. We called those programs last week and no referrals were put in. They have accused her of not being compliant by signing a release of information for them to touch base with her counselor but in fact she had timestamped emails of her sending them back signed. 

I am not sure of how many cases are like this but this has been mess up from day one in our case and something needs to be done. No one company should have this much power to screw up and tear apart good families. And no one is holding them accountable. 

Things are changing in America and this needs to be at the top of the list. No service should have this much power and no oversight.
