Ban factory farming

The Issue

Animals are kept in crowded conditions or in small solitary cells, spending their whole lives away from natural light or grass.  The aim to maximise output and minimise costs is at the total expense of animal welfare. We have become used to battery chickens, now cows and pigs and other animals are being treated in the same way.  Are we really so cruel and inhumane that we can allow this to happen just to be able to eat cheaper meat?

In new factory farms cows are crammed together in tiny spaces, never allowed to go outside, feel the sunshine on their backs or eat fresh grass.  Dairy cows are being made to produce more and more milk (ten times more than an animal needs to feed a calf), leading to stress, disease and a much shorter life from the constant stress their bodies are under.

In cramped conditions animals are fed increasingly large doses of antibiotics, which ultimately affects our own health by causing superbugs immune to all antibiotics.

We should eat less meat or learn to pay more for meat that comes from animals that have been treated more humanely.  Who are we to inflict the modern diseases of stress, anxiety and depression that we suffer from through our own life choices on these animals by depriving them of anything that makes life worth living? The cruelty that is involved in the meat, eggs and milk we consume is becoming more and more barbaric.  Please ban these factory farms and stop this cruelty.
