Deny the plans of a three-story shops and apartment building
The Issue
In the small community of North Chili, we value our family friendly and historical spaces of our neighborhood. Currently, there is a proposal to build a three-story multi-use apartment building on a rather small parcel of land that simply does not meet the required zoning criteria to proceed with construction. This space is zoned for business purposes, and the proposed development does not comply with existing zoning regulations.
To proceed with this development, an unprecedented number of variances must be obtained for Titan Rock LLC to build. This is an excessive demand that sets a dangerous precedent for future projects within Chili.
A special permit is being requested by Titan Rock LLC along with the variances, because the build plans do not fit within the established Town of Chili Business Zoned permit area.
The Architectural Board has also noted the planned multi-use apartment building it does not harmoniously flow with the historical environment within North Chili.
Importantly, North Chili does not require additional apartment complexes. Within a mere one-mile radius, residents already have access to five existing apartment complexes, all of which have vacancies. Introducing another high-density development will not only upset the balance of residential and business spaces, but it will also place unnecessary strain on our infrastructure and local resources.
The Town Zoning Board and the Architectural Board are urged to stay within the current town Codes and permits.
