The Issue

I am a resident of Coe Ave in East Haven, CT, and I've witnessed first-hand the relentless overdevelopment that has enveloped our neighborhood. It's not just a few new buildings here and there; our once quiet streets are now lined with endless apartments, intensifying congestion and altering our community's character.

I live near the property that is yet again targeted for redevelopment. With each new construction, the nature of our environment shifts—a change not always for the better. Beyond the aesthetic degradation, these developments burden our infrastructure, increasing traffic, noise, and pollution.

East Haven is a vibrant town with history and charm. However, the continuous addition of high-density housing is eroding the qualities that made it desirable. The infrastructure, schools, and local services are increasingly strained, and the small-town feel many of us cherish is quickly fading away.

Data from the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that East Haven has seen a steady population growth over the past decade. While growth can mean progress, unchecked expansion threatens to overshadow the benefits, leading to overcrowded schools, overextended municipal resources, and a diminished quality of life for residents.

What we propose is a thoughtful approach to growth that respects the needs of our community and maintains the unique character of our town. We urge local authorities to reconsider the plan for redevelopment on Coe Ave, focusing instead on sustainable development that enhances, rather than erodes, our quality of life.

Let's work together to ensure our neighborhood maintains its integrity and remains a place where families and individuals alike can thrive without compromising their lifestyle or surroundings.

Please join me in calling on the town of East Haven to deny the planned redevelopment of units on Coe Ave. Sign this petition to protect the essence of our community!
