Andrew and Tristan Tate face allegations that they raped women and forced them into sex work, and now await extradition to the United Kingdom on charges ranging from sex trafficking and rape to assault and possession of indecent images of a child. Instead of letting that case play out on the evidence, their attorney, Joseph McBride, has launched a sweeping public relations campaign built partly on AI-generated images portraying the brothers as martyrs, meditating in jail cells or seated among historical figures like George Washington.

Manufactured sympathy shouldn't get to compete with the facts of a serious criminal case. Federal prosecutors say the brothers are a flight risk, pointing to Andrew Tate's own past boasting. In a 2019 tweet from an account linked to him, he wrote, "I am smarter than you. I am Steven Seagal. I am above the law," according to Mother Jones. Tristan Tate is separately alleged to carry a passport under the name of a fictional Bond villain.

The women who say they were harmed by the Tates deserve a justice system that isn't reshaped by memes and podcast tours. Releasing men accused of trafficking women and evading authorities across multiple countries, while their case is still pending, risks putting survivors and the public at further risk as the extradition process moves forward.

A federal judge is set to rule on the Tates' request for release on August 27. Survivors deserve a process guided by evidence, not image campaigns. Sign this petition to urge the court to deny pretrial release and let the extradition process proceed without interference.
