The untimely death of a young man, a promising life cut short, is a painful void that nothing can fill. Zeppelin Phillips was cruelly snatched away from his family and friends in a horrific act of gun violence. We wish no family to endure the sorrow that family/friends are facing in this moment. This young man fell victim to an 18-year old suspect who is not only implicated in this murder but is also accused of another act of violence 8 months ago where another young life was lost. 

We write this petition from Nashville, TN, asking the judicial authorities not to allow this menace back into our community to escape justice. Bail should be denied to this individual who continues to pose a significant threat Nashville annd surrounding areas. The crime rate in Nashville has been steadily on the rise. In 2020, we saw a grisly 50% spike in violent crimes from the previous year, with gun violence being the dominant factor (Source: Nashville Police Department). It's time we stand against this surge in violence to protect our children and community.

We implore upon the local judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders in Nashville, TN to deny bail to the 18-year-old murder suspect. By doing so, we take a stand against gun violence and send a clear message to all: that such acts will not be tolerated, and justice will always prevail.
