Texas state legislator Matt Krause and his supporters are pressuring the Texas Education Agency and school libraries to pull books with pro-LGBTQ+, anti-racist, and pro-abortion themes for "review".

Reading these books can really help high-school students in finding more about diversity, the experiences of others, and can guide them in the exploration of their own identities. These books also show growing and developing students that they are not alone in their struggles.

Denton Independent School District administrators and the DISD School Board are keeping this very hush-hush, apparently afraid of people coming at them from the right to encourage them to pull the books, and people from the left to tell them to keep the books in schools. But their silence on this issue has the effect of condoning anti-LGBTQ+, racist, and anti-abortion views that can be damaging to students.

We, the Denton ISD student-led FReadom movement, are gathering signatures to convince our libraries to give us back our representation and to not leave minorities represented in these books alone in the dust. By signing this petition you are helping public schools become more inclusive places. 

We believe that if there are enough Denton ISD students and community allies in vocal support of keeping these books then that overwhelming majority will cause the school to keep said books, then hopefully this will extend to other districts and the state. Please help us in this fight for inclusivity in school library literature.
