Amplify science curriculum is a science curriculum that was formed after the purchase of wireless generation, which was founded in 2000 by Larry Berger and Greg Gunn. Amplify is a curriculum that instead of bringing students to higher standards of curiosity and learning, brings down the bar to a level that makes it nearly impossible for students to be invested in. It makes it nearly impossible for students to want to learn and like the topics.

They don't differentiate between General Education Learning and HCC, they have the same learning style and boring methods for both, and that really makes it tiresome for HCC students considering the whole point of HCC is to be taught differently, it gives a black and white solution when students are abstract and learn differently and in different ways.

It isn't just students that are upset by Amplify. Sidney Deering, a science teacher wrote: "I've used it as a teacher. Amplify is boring AF and kills inquiry in kids. Requires so much supplementation that why would anyone use it? It has serious equity issues because it is computer-based. Almost no hands-on activities for kids, a few teacher demos. Tons of low-level reading, plenty of writing to explain your understanding, which is good. Snazzy computer simulations, but not enough to keep kids from being bored to tears and hating science, if Amplify is what is being served up as science" She also wrote "Hey, they have laptops, so how 'bout even a video of the fizzing? But no. Just that black and white photo. Not even the suggestion of a teacher demo." and "My kids got to do the vinegar and baking soda because I stopped at Safeway on the way to school and could turn in my receipt to my well-resourced school. THAT is an equity issue."

Parent and Educator Emily Cherkin stated via email "First, real learning occurs during messy, three-dimensional, hands-on experiences in the context of real-life relationships with teachers. Real learning is difficult and carves new neural pathways in growing children. Real learning does NOT come from remotely-monitored, bite-sized, screen-based lessons. The use of such curricula does our children a tremendous disservice and robs them of critical skill-building and relationship-honing opportunities. Second, where is the long-term, research-based evidence that technology-based curricula like Amplify Science are more effective than well-trained, well-supported teachers?" "We have decades of research about the value of human teachers to teach critical skill-building and relationships, the foundation on which all other learning happens. If scant evidence exists to justify a nine-year, nearly $9 million educational tech-based curricula, where is the justification to implement?"

There are so many other parents, teachers, and students that are unsatisfied with Amplify's techniques. Convince Seattle Public Schools to switch to a Science curriculum that empowers students to want to be their best learners, instead of bringing them down to amplify's standards.
