The Electoral College should be abolished because it undermines the principle of "one person, one vote," giving disproportionate power to voters in smaller states and diluting the influence of those in larger ones. This system can result in presidents being elected without winning the popular vote, as seen in several recent elections, which erodes public trust in the democratic process. Additionally, the focus on swing states distorts campaign priorities, leading candidates to cater to a small segment of the electorate instead of addressing nationwide concerns. Ending the Electoral College would create a fairer, more representative democracy by ensuring that every citizen’s vote has equal weight in determining the outcome of presidential elections.
