Barrington Martin II ran against John Lewis in Georgia's June primary election. Although he lost to him, he earned almost 20,000 votes. (And that was with voter suppression and reports that his name was excluded on some of the ballots.)

Now, after the passing of the great John Lewis, the Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG) put together put together a committee of their favorite Georgia Democrats (including some who are formerly and currently apart of the DPG). This committee created a shortlist of five candidates they approved of being the Democratic nominee. Despite him already being a candidate, runner up to John Lewis and resubmitting his name to the committee, Barrington was not on that list.

The DPG's Executive Committee then voted and picked their own Chair, Nikema Williams, to replace John Lewis and be the Democratic candidate of Congressional District 5. The Democratic Party of Georgia PICKED THEMSELVES to represent District 5 in Congress.

This is completely undemocratic. We cannot allow the Democratic Party of Georgia to sidestep democracy and ignore the votes of thousands by putting in one of their own. This is a form of the voter suppression they claim to be against.

Demand that the Democratic Party of Georgia replace John Lewis with Barrington Martin II on the ballot this November instead of Nikema Williams. Not doing so would mean that we'd have a representative in Congress that the people didn't vote for. It would be corrupt, unconstitutional and dishonor the memory of John Lewis, a man who dedicated his life to voting rights and ending voter suppression.
