We, the students of Tempe Union High School District, believe our current lockdown drills are outdated, unsafe, and dangerously predictable. Being told to hide silently in a corner is not real protection it leaves us vulnerable to an attacker who already knows these routines. We demand that TUHSD immediately replace these outdated drills with modern, federally endorsed methods such as Run–Hide–Fight and ALICE, train staff accordingly, and dedicate one class period for students to learn these updated protocols. Students deserve real safety, not the illusion of it.
