Demanding Better Education for All in the Philippines

The Issue

I-Witness: 'Pag-asa sa Pagbasa,' dokumentaryo ni Kara David

Limited education in the Philippines affects a great number of Filipinos, particularly children and young people. A lot of people find it difficult to have access to good educational possibilities, which limits their chances of a better future.

There are hundreds of thousands of children alone that are deprived of a proper education. Although the Philippines is one of the most urbanized populations in Southeast Asia, the living conditions are equally as bad or even worse as some of the rural areas. Many of these children live in unsafe housing that do not have any access to schools.

The country's progress is at risk due to the critical state of education. Without a strong educational foundation, people have fewer opportunities, which hinders both individual development and national progress. We can help the Philippines become stronger and more prosperous by resolving this issue and enabling countless lives to reach their full potential.

The cycle of disadvantage continues every day in the absence of effective education, so now is the moment to take action. By banding together and making demands, we can make politicians feel obligated to give education reform top priority. Taking quick action is essential.
