Stand with Me: Help Fight Educational Injustice
I am seeking your support to fight against injustice. For the past three years, I have been tirelessly working to correct a grave injustice that has profoundly impacted my education, my well-being, and my future. Despite my hard work and academic achievements, I have been unfairly graded as failing, even denied my rightful place at my eighth-grade graduation, and have faced discrimination and humiliation from teachers all while the school administration has turned a blind eye.
I have studied diligently, actively participated in class, completed assignments on time, and scored Advanced on the AAPPL language test the highest level in my district. I also won a gold medal in the Chinese Writing Competition hosted by the Chinese Language Teachers Association of America (CLASS) and received the Presidential Volunteer Gold Award for my contributions to the community. Additionally, I wrote a Chinese-language article about Hispanic Heritage Month, which was published in a Chinese newspaper, showcasing my commitment to cross-cultural understanding and education.
Yet, despite all this, I was still given an F in Chinese and History both of which were taught in Chinese receiving 58.9% and 59.7%, respectively. Ms. Yu (Olivia) claimed that I did not complete my assignments, despite my consistent efforts and documented submission records. She repeatedly failed to register my homework without reason and even exposed my grades to other parents, while also making derogatory remarks about Mexican students like me. She called us “lazy,” “unmotivated,” “ugly,” “fat,” and “dark-skinned” in front of both students and parents, subjecting me to relentless public humiliation. As a result, I was barred from my own graduation, a loss I can never fully recover from.
My mother has been fighting for justice for three years, but the school district has refused to take action. Seeing her struggle for so long without an answer has made me realize that I cannot stay silent any longer. As the person who experienced this injustice firsthand, I need to stand up and speak for myself.
I can no longer remain silent. I need your help.
I am launching this petition to demand that the Pasadena Unified School District correct my Chinese and History grades, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure that no other student experiences the same pain and humiliation that I have. This is not just about me it’s about preventing other students from facing similar discrimination and ensuring fairness in our education system. Please take a moment to sign and share this petition.
