A man was filmed kicking, stabbing, and taunting a wounded coyote in Wyoming. The video is going viral. An investigation has been launched. Now the public must demand prosecution.

The graphic footage shows a man pulling a visibly injured coyote out from under sagebrush by its tail, flinging it across the ground, chasing it down, kicking it in the head, producing a knife, stabbing it in the shoulder, and then taunting the animal as it lay dying. There is blood on the ground. The coyote tries to flee but cannot. The man films it like entertainment.

Wyoming Game and Fish has confirmed it is investigating. Animal Wellness Action — the organization that helped secure a felony charge against Cody Roberts for torturing a wolf in 2024 — has called this video worse than the Roberts case and is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Wyoming has a law built for exactly this moment. The Clean Kill Bill, passed in response to the Roberts incident, makes it a crime to deliberately prolong the suffering of a predatory animal rather than kill it quickly. Even Wyoming's own hunting and sportsmanship community is demanding prosecution.

Paul Ulrich of Wyoming Sportsmanship said it plainly: "Throw the book at this individual."

The investigation is underway. The law exists. The video is evidence. There is no excuse for inaction.
