The Issue
ON MAY 23, 2022, WELLS FARGO WAS BREACHED AND, IN NUMEROUS PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH THE SAME WELLS FARGO CUSTOMER WHO BROUGHT THE BREACH TO THEIR ATTENTION, ADMITTED THE BREACH, COULD NOT OR WOULD NOT EXPLAIN IT AND, MOST SHOCKINGLY, NEVER ADMITTED THE BREACH TO THEIR CUSTOMERS, NOR THE MEDIA, IN ANY FORM, THAT, IN FACT, THEIR BANK HAD BEEN ELECTRONICALLY BREACHED THROUGH THEIR IVR (INTERACTIVE VOICE RECOGNITION) SYSTEM.
Upon the public release of this Breach having happened, on July 5, 2022, both as an 18+ minute video and a 3+ hour video, including extensive visual evidence, the audio portions, including the Legally Recorded phone calls with multiple departments at Wells Fargo, a release which was done through the Telegram Channel of Richard The Citizen Journalist - https://t.me/richardcitizenjournalist - the Wells Fargo system was temporarily the #1 WEBSITE WORLDWIDE on DownDetector.com listed with having massive outages for logins, ATM usage, debit card usage, incorrect balances, as well as numerous other security issues. There were thousands upon thousands of complaints, directly to Wells Fargo, as well as all over social media. There was even a mention in an Indian Investigative online site, www.PiunikaWeb.com
Although Wells Fargo did, for a short period of time, put a vague notice up on their Log In pages, both on their mobile app, as well as on their desktop login pages, THEY NEVER EXPLAINED TO THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT A BREACH DID OCCUR, nor precisely what happened, nor why it happened, nor if the security breach has ever been fixed.
In short, people have just taken their unspoken word for it, that, for lack of a better phrase, all is well and we can just get on with our lives and that our money is safe and secure.
Previous security breaches at Wells Fargo, even those which were never admitted by Wells Fargo in Legally-Recorded phone calls, have been at least, with respect for their clients, discussed publicly, if by no other means than a Twitter announcement or a small press release. Large security breaches have been exposed in Newspapers such as The New York Times.
Why not this time? Why are they saying nothing? Why are their customers just forgetting about it?
Wells Fargo's refusal to admit a security breach, or even a potential Security Breach, violates numerous banking disclosure laws, specifically the, "Computer-Security Incident Notification Requirements for Banking Organizations and Their Bank Service Providers," a Rule which took effect on April 1, 2022.
