The Issue

The recent strike by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 7, led by Kim C. Cordova and Ramon Zuniga, failed to result in a favorable agreement for the hardworking members. Not only did lack of negotiation skills become apparent, but there are also concerns over strike pay for those who spent days on the picket line, in the bitter cold, further diminishing member confidence in the existing leadership. This mismanagement is unacceptable, especially considering that the employees under UFCW Local 7 provide essential service to our community.

In light of these recent failures, we are demanding the resignation of Kim C. Cordova and Ramon Zuniga from their positions. Our hardworking members need effective leaders who can negotiate better compensation and improve working conditions. It's time for change and restoration of faith in UFCW Local 7's leadership. Please sign this petition if you stand with our demand.

Why is this important?

We, the concerned individuals, believe change is urgently needed in the current leadership of UFCW Local 7. The behavior and actions of President Kim Cordova and Secretary-Treasurer Ramon Zuniga have proven to be detrimental to the union's integrity.

The National Labor Relations Board found Cordova guilty of several charges, yet she continues her tenure with additional charges pending. Such damaging conduct from a leader undermines not only the union's reputation but also jeopardizes the interests of those the union represents. In 2020, union memberships accounted for 10.8 percent of total wage and salary workers in the U.S. (source: Bureau of Labor Statistics), local unions like Local 7 have a pivotal role in representing these workers' interests, proving further the significance of this issue.

Currently, Kim Cordova and Ramon Zuniga occupy leadership positions that require the utmost integrity, transparency, and fairness. However, recent actions and behaviors have significantly harmed the spirit of worker representation. This calls for a need to push for new leadership; leadership that values honesty, embodies integrity, and truly represents workers. By signing this petition, you are casting a vote for ethical leadership and firmly stating that anyone who does not uphold these standards, including Kim Cordova and Ramon Zuniga, should resign. Let's start the journey towards better leadership and a brighter future. Sign this petition now.

JBS STRIKE ENDS ABRUPTLY - WITHOUT A CONTRACT

After three long weeks on the line, UFCW Local 7 is packing it up and calling this a “win.”

A win… for what exactly? There’s no contract. No tentative agreement. Nothing secured for the members.

All they got was a date on a calendar to talk more.

That’s not a victory — that’s a reset button after burning through people’s time, energy, and money.

Let’s be honest about the pattern here.

The first grocery strike? Pulled after 9 days just to accept essentially the same deal — except worse, because the bonus disappeared — after members stood out there freezing. Then 2025 rolls around and we get two overlapping, poorly timed strikes that undercut each other before either had a chance to be effective.

Now this JBS strike — three weeks of sacrifice just to end up right back where it started.

Meanwhile, the strike fund is drained (behind closed doors, Kim has sworn, for years, that she would spend every cent of the strike fund before she retires), the members are left hanging, and leadership gets to walk away untouched.

At some point this stops being “bad luck” and starts looking like a complete lack of strategy — or worse, leadership that’s more focused on optics than outcomes. And the part that should frustrate everyone the most? The people paying the price are the members — not the ones making the decisions.

We don’t need more speeches.

We don’t need more performative strikes.

We need leadership that knows how to win. Because right now, this isn’t winning — it’s a cycle of failure dressed up as progress.

It’s time for change.
