I come from a long line of United Auto Workers (UAW) family members. Our lives have been shaped by the labor movement and the tireless efforts of union leaders who were elected to represent us, the workers. However, recently it has become apparent that our elected UAW leaders are diverting their attention and our hard-earned union dues towards national politics rather than focusing on their primary duty - representing us.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2020 alone, unions spent over $48 million in political activities and lobbying. This is a significant portion of our dues being used for purposes other than improving working conditions or negotiating better contracts for members like us.

Our petition is simple: we demand that our UAW leaders refocus their efforts back onto what they were elected to do - represent workers. We insist they stop wasting our union dues on national politics and instead invest them into initiatives that directly benefit us - such as training programs, health benefits, or wage negotiations.
