The Issue

I'm a Palestinian girl from Gaza, once a hopeful university student in the Department of DS & AI. The university that nurtured my aspirations was bombed, and I lost many loved ones - relatives and friends. I have survived bombings twice by sheer luck!

Knowing that as of today, 9 May 2024, the 216th day of the war, there are more than 34,500 martyrs and 78,000 injured(source: Palestinian Ministry of Health) and maybe I will be the next martyr!

In Gaza, there is no safe place to sleep, no clean water to drink, no healthy food to eat, no electricity to light our nights or fuel to warm us during cold winters. There is also an acute lack of medical treatment for those injured or sick. All around us is nothing but killing, bombing, and destruction; fear permeates every corner while displacement tents become our makeshift homes.

The situation in Gaza has been described as the world's largest open-air prison (source: United Nations Human Rights Council). Over 2 million people live here under blockade conditions imposed by Israel since 2007 (source: World Health Organization). The recent escalation of violence has only worsened the humanitarian crisis.

We are calling on the United States government - a key ally and supporter of Israel - to take responsibility for its role in this crisis by funding GoFundMe campaigns set up by Gazans who are victims of this ongoing genocide.

We are asking the US government to pay all of these fundraising efforts!

Individual fundraising campaigns for Gazan families include different goals such as:

  • Escape from this war to Egypt
  • Medical expenses for individuals and injured
  • Strengthen rebuilding efforts
  • Help students to complete their education in various ways.

Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves a chance at life free from fear and full of opportunities – just like what was taken away from me and countless others living in Gaza today. This action will not only provide immediate relief but also send a powerful message that we stand against genocide in Gaza!
