Demand truth and justice for Spain's stolen babies
The Issue
In December 1992, I gave birth to my first child in Spain. On that day, I was given the heart-wrenching news that my newborn daughter had passed away shortly after birth. For 19 long years, I believed my child was gone. However, in 2012, I was confronted with shocking revelations: an emerging scandal known as the 'Stolen Babies' scandal in Spain, where thousands of babies were taken from their mothers and sold or given as a 'gift' to adoptive families. This revelation turned my world upside down, sparking a relentless pursuit for the truth about what happened to my child.
I live every day battling with the 'unknown', not knowing the fate of my own child who should now be an adult. I am one of many parents who remain in the dark, haunted by the shadows of deceit. This is not just my story; it is the story of countless families who suffer in silence, hoping for clarity and justice.
The 'Stolen Babies' scandal in Spain is a dark chapter in the history of the country. Between the 1940s and 1990s, it is estimated that up to 300,000 newborns were taken from their mothers and sold / given to adoptive families in collusion with hospital staff, doctors, and religious institutions. Most affected families have found themselves facing brick walls and a total lack of effective investigations when trying to find answers and reunite with their long-lost children.
This petition calls for immediate action from the Spanish and British government alongside relevant authorities to fully investigate these claims and the chance to fill that void that we have in our lives.
Incredibly my case has been through the entire Spanish "Justice" system but nobody has ever spoken to me! No judge has asked me anything, noone has listened to me. How is this possible? I never had the chance to attend any court proceedings. Everything was done behind closed doors, carried out by people unknown to me. I need a voice!
My goal is simple: uncover the truth, deliver justice, and reunite my family and others torn apart by this grievous betrayal of trust and human rights. The pain of not knowing the truth is unbearable, and without decisive action, more families will continue to suffer in silence. This plea for help is urgent. The people who hold the answers are ageing. I can't let them take those answers to the grave.
Please lend your support to our cause. Sign this petition to urge the Spanish and British government to act decisively, to investigate thoroughly and to provide closure and justice to the families of Spain's stolen babies. Together, we can make a difference. Help us bring the truth to light, for myself and for all the mothers, fathers and families still searching for their children.
