Demand Transparency in Utility Billing Practices

The Issue

I, like many others, am faced with a growing frustration. Our home electricity bills are sky-high, far beyond what we used to pay before this new app came along. The issue is that our kilowatt-hour (kWh) usage has not changed, and yet we are being charged at an ever-increasing rate. This financial burden is making it harder and harder to live comfortably, forcing us to spend hundreds on electricity that we are not using. 

This is not an issue that affects us alone. Multiple reports suggest that customers across the entire region are subject to these staggering charges, despite consuming the same amount of electricity as before. There is every reason to believe that these unjustifiable increases in charges, coupled with zero explanation, are rampant and unwarranted.

We, therefore, call on the responsible utility company to provide much-needed transparency in its billing practices. We urge the company to explain why the costs are rising disproportionately, especially when the kWh consumed remain the same. The company must also take the necessary steps to rectify these issues immediately.

We have the right to pay only for what we use, and not a cent more. That’s why we, the affected customers, are initiating this petition. Sign this petition to join our demand for fairness and transparency in utility billing.
