Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) across Alberta are sounding the alarm. Two months after Alberta Health Services (AHS) filed a bad-faith bargaining complaint against the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)—information only uncovered by chance on AHS’s InSite portal on July 11—frontline LPNs demand immediate disclosure of all related documents and clear explanations for the secrecy.

Transparency and accountability in public sector negotiations are not just necessary; they are fundamental rights of all stakeholders involved, especially those directly impacted by any decisions made. The veil of secrecy not only creates mistrust but also undermines the very foundation of good-faith bargaining.

We demand the immediate release of the full meeting minutes from the bargaining session that culminated in AHS’s complaint (Process File GE-09406), from both AUPE and AHS. This documentation is critical for ensuring that all parties are held accountable and that the bargaining process remains transparent and fair.

Moreover, it is imperative that the official summary of the closed Alberta Labour Relations Board (ALRB) resolution conference, scheduled for July 16, 2025, be provided as soon as possible. Stakeholders require this summary to fully understand the decisions and compromises that shape their working conditions.

It is equally important that each party involved—AHS and AUPE—provides a clear explanation as to why this critical information was withheld from stakeholders until it was accidentally discovered. Frontline health workers deserve to know the truth about the matters affecting their profession and livelihoods.

The lack of transparency not only affects the immediate parties involved but also sets a concerning precedent for all future negotiations. Ensuring that these processes are open and transparent is essential for preserving trust and cooperation among all parties.

Sign this petition to urge AHS and AUPE to restore transparency and accountability in their negotiations, and to remember that healthcare workers deserve respect and honesty. Their dedication to public health in Alberta should be matched with open communication and transparent dealings by their employers and representatives. Your signature can make a difference. Stand with Alberta's LPNs in demanding the transparency they need and deserve. Please sign this petition today.
