The Issue

As taxpayers in Martinsville, Indiana, we are the backbone supporting the city's operations, and it's only right that we deserve to know where our hard-earned money is being spent. Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in our town operates on a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. What this ultimately conceals is the hiring of individuals with questionable backgrounds, often as a result of favoritism towards friends and family.

In our community, city operations are shrouded in secrecy, preventing residents from understanding the financial structure of the local government. It's easy to lose sight of just how many employees are on the city's payroll when crucial information is kept out of public reach. Despite our investment into the city's future, finding comprehensive information about budget allocations, and departmental allowances is near impossible.

This lack of transparency raises many questions: Are funds being allocated efficiently? Are officials being held accountable? The more we know about city spending, the better we can foster trust within the community and ensure a brighter future for Martinsville.

Concrete changes are necessary to build a transparent and accountable city government. We call on local leaders to implement an open data policy that publishes detailed budgets, salaries, and departmental expenditures, accessible to all residents online. Establishing regular public forums where citizens can voice concerns and gain insights into city operations would further fortify trust between the community and its elected officials.

Join us in this important cause to unveil the truth behind our city's administration. Doing so will pave the way for a more responsible and honest governance in Martinsville. Sign this petition to demand transparency and accountability from the Martinsville city government.
