Students at Baker University are demanding answers! Since December our portal system has been offline. This outage is harming our student community in numerous ways. Without access to this crucial system, we've lost the ability to view our 1098T forms and grades, apply for scholarships, pay our tuition, access our transcripts and even to apply to other universities. Our personal data has also experienced a breach but we, the students, are left in the dark as to how this occurred, why, and who is responsible for it. What's more troubling is the silence from our university—no updates, no explanations. In this digital age, cyber threats are increasingly common, what isn’t common is being withheld vital information. We demand transparency from Baker University. We ask for immediate updates and explanations related to this prolonged system outage and data breach, and what steps are being taken to fix the situation and secure our personal and academic data. The relationship between an educational institution and its students hinges upon trust. To rebuild this trust, we need open and honest communication from our university.
