Demand transparency and advance notice in TDCA junior cricket scheduling

Demand transparency and advance notice in TDCA junior cricket scheduling
The Issue
Objective of the Petition
We, the undersigned members, parents, and stakeholders of the Ontario youth cricket community, are submitting this formal petition to demand immediate structural reforms to the TDCA Junior League scheduling process. Our goal is to ensure equity, transparency, and a safe, feasible playing environment for all youth cricketers.
Currently, scheduling practices heavily disadvantage certain clubs, create severe logistical hardships for families, and risk turning young players away from the sport.
Core Demands for Reform
Demand 1: Mandatory Two-Week Advance Schedule Publication
The Issue: Last-minute scheduling and short-notice changes make it nearly impossible for working parents to coordinate transport, adjust family schedules, or ensure player availability. It also prevents clubs from securing proper coaching staff and resources.
The Solution: The TDCA must mandate that all junior fixture lists, including any reschedules, be finalized and published a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance.
Demand 2: Mitigation of Conflict of Interest (Junior Scheduler Regulations)
The Issue: To guarantee absolute fairness, the integrity of the scheduling process must be beyond reproach. A clear conflict of interest arises when individuals responsible for creating league schedules also affiliated with competing private cricket academies.
The Solution: The TDCA Junior Scheduler role must be held by an independent, unbiased. No active academy owner, director, or primary stakeholder shall be permitted to hold the position of Junior League Scheduler. This eliminates any perceived or actual bias in fixture placements.
Demand 3: Fair Distribution of Fixtures and Elimination of Overlaps
The Issue: Forcing a single club to play two/three matches on the exact same day and time—particularly during a holiday weekend without 2 weeks notice, and within overlapping age groups—is logistically impossible and fundamentally unfair.
The Solution: No club should face multiple conflicting fixtures at the exact same hour unless explicitly agreed upon well in advance. Scheduling must prioritize the children’s right to play more matches rather than administrative convenience.
Conclusion & Call to Action
Youth Cricket community have been proud and together we want to add wonderful practice of giving kids and parents advance notice, develop game schedule/playing 11 schedule in advance and get them ready for matches in advance, long-standing contributors to the growth of cricket within the TDCA. We do not seek special favors; we demand a fair, transparent, and balanced playing field for all children and junior players.
This is not against any individual or any group of people, this is to inform TCAD league our problems as academy operator/parents/players and to provide suggestions together that we operate to make it better for everyone specially young Cricketers! If the TDCA wishes to remain the premier league in the region, it must protect its junior players and uphold the highest standards of governance. We request an immediate review of these terms by the TDCA Board and a formal response regarding implementation.
