Demand Transparency and Accountability from UPSC in Their Scoring Process
The Issue
As an aspirant and witness of the UPSC Civil Service Examination process, I, alongside my brother, have strived for years to make the cut. We've put in incredible amounts of time and effort and have consistently performed with over 95+ marks in GS 1. However, according to the UPSC prelims 2025 result, we didn't qualify despite belonging to the OBC category. This inability to progress has not only affected us but also thousands of other budding civil servants across the nation.
It is disheartening that UPSC releases the prelims answer key only after the examination, which makes it difficult for aspirants to evaluate their performance and understand their mistakes. Furthermore, there is no concrete justification provided when questions from previous year question papers are deleted.
What we demand is a more transparent UPSC scoring process. UPSC must release the prelims answer keys right after the examination and justify the deletion of questions from previous year question papers. This will ensure that all aspirants have a fair understanding of where they stand in the competition and what mistakes they need to rectify for better performance in the future.
This issue isn't just about me, my brother, or any individual. It's about every aspirant who has written the Mains exam only to feel dejected by an opaque and perplexing scoring process. By signing this petition, we can urge the UPSC to reform their process, promoting transparency and enabling a fairer future for all civil service aspirants. Sign this petition and join this call for reform. Jai Hind!
