Demand Transparency and Accountability from Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

Demand Transparency and Accountability from Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

The Issue

My goddaughter is currently in the care of Wellsprings Hospital, a part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, where I have experienced unsettling practices. It has come to light that medical staff within the Trust are not adhering to the laws and regulations that govern their profession, thus deeply affecting the delivery of care to patients. Specifically, I found that nurses at Wellsprings Hospital, Cheddon Road, Taunton TA2 7AZ, are refusing to disclose their details, as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, such as their PIN. This lack of transparency hinders the complaint-making process and prevents any possible action against staff members who might, by their behavior or actions, mistreat patients or engage in unlawful activities such as theft of patients' property. This is not just a violation of professional standards but a serious breach of law and trust. The Nursing and Midwifery Council states that "nurses and midwives must always be open and honest, accountable for their decisions and actions, and capable of justifying their decisions" (Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2015). It is with this in mind that we call upon the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust to enforce the necessary laws and regulations among its staff, promote transparency, and uphold the highest standards of patient care. The safety and wellbeing of patients are at stake. It is time to demand truth, accountability, and reform within the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. Please, sign this petition and help ensure a safer and better healthcare environment for all.
