As an enthusiastic Irish TikTok user, I know first-hand how unfairly balanced the opportunity for monetizing content on this platform is. At present, the TikTok Creator Fund, which distributes revenue to successful creators for the views and likes they garner, is only accessible to creators in the US, UK and certain other European countries. Despite the popularity of the platform and the creativity of Irish creators, Ireland is not one of them. This is a gross injustice to all Irish TikTok creators, who invest considerable time and effort into their work, just like their counterparts in other countries.

Currently, TikTok has approximately 100 million users in Europe, and Ireland forms an important part of that user base. According to Statista, Ireland has over 700,000 TikTok users who contribute to the vibrancy and diversity of content on the platform. This discrepancy, where Irish creators cannot monetize their work on TikTok whilst creators from countries like the US and UK can, creates a glaring imbalance.

By signing this petition, you are standing up for the right of every creator to be fairly rewarded for their efforts and investment, regardless of their geographical location. We need to place pressure on TikTok to end this inequity and extend their Creator Fund to Ireland. It's time for Irish TikTok creators to get the same opportunities as their international peers.
