Demand TikTok | Facebook | Instagram Shut Down Gang Livestreams From Haiti

The Issue

Recently, a deeply disturbing incident on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram involving the gang leader known as Nice B brought the horrifying reality of Haiti’s violence directly onto people’s screens. Content showing the alleged execution of a young woman with a machete was broadcast and viewed by thousands, sending shockwaves through Haiti and communities around the world.

This should never be treated as entertainment or allowed to become social-media content.

Haiti is facing a devastating crisis, while criminal groups are increasingly using social media to spread fear, glorify violence, display wealth, threaten their victims, and influence vulnerable young people. For children growing up surrounded by hunger, poverty, trauma, and hopelessness, seeing gang members portray themselves as powerful and financially successful can create a dangerous sense of belonging and a false path to survival.

TikTok cannot claim to provide a safe platform while violent gang propaganda and threats are allowed to reach thousands of people.

One major concern is the difficulty of effectively moderating Haitian Creole content. Gang members can use coded language, new accounts, and other methods to evade moderation and continue spreading violent propaganda after accounts are removed.

The solution must be proactive—not reactive.

TikTok should invest in stronger AI detection and human moderation specifically capable of understanding Haitian Creole, Haitian cultural context, gang terminology, and coded threats. The platform should work with Haitian Creole linguists, regional experts, and human-rights organizations to identify dangerous content before it spreads.

And most importantly:

Gang leaders and known gang-affiliated accounts should not be permitted to livestream from Haiti to broadcast threats, executions, intimidation, propaganda, or recruitment.

This petition is a call for TikTok to immediately strengthen its enforcement against gang-related violence and propaganda, increase Haitian Creole moderation, prevent repeat offenders from simply returning through burner accounts, and stop allowing Haiti’s suffering to become digital entertainment.

Haiti is tired. Haitians are tired. Our children are tired.

We are asking TikTok to close the digital door to those exploiting violence, fear, and the vulnerability of our people.

Protect Haiti From Gang Violence on TikTok

TikTok should not become a digital weapon for armed gangs.

Recent violent content circulating from Haiti—including gang propaganda, threats, recruitment, and graphic acts of violence—has shown how social media can be exploited to intimidate communities, influence children, glorify criminals, and normalize extreme violence.

We are calling on TikTok to take immediate action.

We demand that TikTok:

Permanently remove accounts operated by Haitian gangs and their affiliates.
Ban gang propaganda, recruitment, threats, intimidation, and glorification of violence.
Immediately remove livestreams or videos depicting executions, torture, or other extreme acts of violence.
Strengthen monitoring of Haitian-language content involving gang activity.
Prevent children and vulnerable users from being exposed to gang recruitment and propaganda.
Cooperate with Haitian and international authorities when content documents serious criminal activity.
Publish greater transparency about enforcement against gang-related Haitian accounts and content.
If TikTok cannot effectively prevent its platform from being used by gangs for recruitment, propaganda, intimidation, and extreme violence, TikTok should consider suspending access in affected regions of Haiti until adequate safeguards are implemented.
This is not about silencing Haitians.

Haitians deserve the ability to communicate, create, educate, entertain, and connect online.

This petition is about preventing armed criminal organizations from turning a social-media platform into a tool for terror.

TikTok has the technology to moderate content. We are asking the company to use it.

The people of Haiti should not have to watch their suffering become entertainment, propaganda, or recruitment material for the world to consume.

Enough is enough. Protect Haitian communities. Protect Haitian children. Stop giving gangs a digital megaphone.
