I was nearly killed in a car accident in June 2023. If it wasn't for my quick reflexes, I could have been wheelchair-bound or worse. The vehicle that hit me was at fault, and we both had State Farm as our insurance provider. An adjuster told me she was representing both parties - a clear conflict of interest.

This is not just about my case; this is about the millions of victims who are victimized a second time by the insurance system. According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), there were over 6 million reported motor vehicle crashes in 2019 alone, and many more go unreported each year. This means that countless individuals could be facing similar conflicts of interest with their insurance providers.

We need to change this system that allows insurers to represent both parties involved in an accident. We demand that an outside third-party arbitrator hears the facts and decides on a fair settlement instead.

This will ensure transparency, fairness, and eliminate any potential conflicts of interest between insurers and their clients - giving victims like myself a fighting chance against being doubly victimized by accidents and then by the very system meant to protect us.
