Demand the Town of Queensbury to Stop Funding the Poorly Managed Queensbury Dog Control

The Issue

The story of Onesha, a sweet and lovable canine, has revealed a heartbreaking reality. From 2012 to 2023, she was kept wrongly imprisoned by the SPCA of Upstate NY, being labeled as 'unadoptable'. As fate would have it, when Queensbury's $100,000 taxpayer-funded contract turned SPCA of Upstate NY into Queensbury Dog Control, Onesha was finally allowed to be adopted and discovered as 'the best dog ever' by her new owners.

However, the deep-seated problems persisted. When finally taken to a vet, it was discovered that Onesha had a cap stuck in her teeth for years, making it impossible for her to shut her mouth comfortably. The fact that it was overlooked for so long shows inexcusable neglect on the part of SPCA of Upstate NY.

There are countless other stories, shared by concerned citizens of Queensbury and surrounding areas for years. Attempts to get law enforcement, the Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Attorney General, and Steve Caporizzo involved have failed, as no one seems to want to get involved.

The town of Queensbury stimulating the operation of SPCA of Upstate NY with taxpayer's money signifies an endorsement of poor animal care. Such negligence towards the care of animals should not be encouraged using public funds. We, therefore, urge Queensbury to cease financial aid given to SPCA of Upstate NY until they demonstrate improvement in their care for animals. By signing this petition, you would be joining hands in the fight against animal neglect and poor animal care. Let's assure that no more animals go through what Onesha had to. Please sign this petition.
