Demand the Resignations of Louisburg School Officials for Failing to Protect Our Children

Demand the Resignations of Louisburg School Officials for Failing to Protect Our Children
The Issue
Personal anguish drives this plea for justice. A child, belonging to one of our community, was photographed without consent by a fellow student at a different location. The photographs were then shared with nothing more than a 2 day suspension punishment for the offender. Shockingly, our superintendent, principal, activities director and board of education members dismissed the grievance. Disconcertingly, one individual even admitted to being "OK" with this horrendous invasion of privacy.
These actions are a gross misjudgement and a frightening neglect of duty in assuring that our children are safe. The named officials are: Dr. Brian Biermann, superintendent, Dr. Amy VanRheen, High School Principal, Mr. Pickman, Activities Director and all Louisburg School Board members. They have failed in their roles as protectors of our children, and as responsible adults should not be within the vicinity of vulnerable youth.
Recent surveys show that 1 in 4 American students report experiencing incidences of bullying at school (National Center for Education Statistics, 2018). By ignoring a clear breach of privacy, Louisburg's school officials are sending a dangerous message that their school is a safe haven for bullies and not for students.
In light of this, we ask for the resignations of Dr. Brian Biermann, Dr. Amy VanRheen, Mr. Pickman and all Louisburg School Board members. We demand school officials who uphold child safety, condemn bullying, and respect privacy rights, not ignore them. Please sign the petition to say Enough is Enough. Our children need to be safe, and our voices need to be heard!
