This petition is deeply personal. As a parent of biracial children who attend the local school district overseen by the current board member, David Sanchez, I cannot idly stand by. Recently, Sanchez publicly shared his discriminatory views on Facebook, stating, “We need a day without a half breed. Can’t get more American than that!!” This offensive comment jeopardizes the inclusive environment our school widely promotes.

School boards are at the helm of decisions that significantly impact our children's education, and their members should reflect the values of respect, inclusivity, and tolerance. This underscores the importance of having board members who genuinely respect and value all students' ethnicity and cultural backgrounds. 

Racist attitudes have no place in an educational setting where diversity, acceptance, and appreciation for all students should be paramount. David Sanchez's biased views and blatant racism pose a threat to the mental and emotional well-being of our children, particularly those of color or mixed ethnicities.

We must uphold the rights of every student to feel safe, accepted, and valued in their school community. The time has come to demand the resignation of David Sanchez from his position on the school board. We cannot tolerate hate-speech or prejudiced beliefs held by those responsible for our children's education.
