The Alma Mater Society (AMS) of Queen's University, which is a student society representing the interests of over 16,000 undergraduate students at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, is currently embroiled in controversy under the leadership of President Jana Amer. Concerns have been raised by many students,  regarding mismanagement, lack of transparency, and failure to adequately represent the students’ interests.

The core responsibility of the AMS President is to advocate for student needs and voices; however, recent events have shown a departure from this duty. Recent reports have shown that the president, who is supposed to represent student interests at Queen's University, stole money, and is currently facing zero consequences or taking any accountability. It does not matter whether she returned the money; she used the AMS credit card for personal expenses. There needs to be accountability taken, and as students, we hold the responsibility to hold corrupt individuals within our institution responsible.
