The issue

Simeon Brown, the current Minister of Health, poses a significant threat to equitable and effective healthcare  in Aotearoa. Mr. Brown's agenda is alarmingly focused on the privatization of our healthcare system. This agenda prioritizes profits over the needs of patients and the staff that delivers the healthcare.

Privatisation will inevitably lead to increased costs for patients and reduced access to essential services, particularly for the most vulnerable populations. The potential decline in the quality of care and overall public health outcomes is too great a risk to ignore. When patient care becomes secondary to profit margins, the essence of healthcare is lost, resulting in an inequitable system where the level of care one receives depends largely on their wealth.

Moreover, Simeon Brown has shown a clear lack of support for healthcare staff, the very individuals who are the backbone of health service delivery. Their tireless work and dedication to patient care deserve respect and support, not neglect and disparity. Without properly valuing and supporting these workers, our entire healthcare system becomes precarious.

The time has come for Simeon Brown to resign from his position as Minister of Health to protect the future of our healthcare system and ensure everyone in New Zealand receives the quality care they deserve.  His background in finance lends absolutely no relevance to health and he is now silencing those who oppose his agenda. We urge the government to take immediate action for a more equitable healthcare system. Join us in this call for change by signing this petition.
