Enough is enough.

Today, reluctantly and with a heavy heart, I withdrew my child from Hinsdale Middle High School. She was no longer safe in an environment that should be nurturing and protective. My daughter has been subjected to repeated racial harassment, including being called racial slurs, and was recently physically assaulted by another student in a school hallway, right in front of her peers. Her hair was yanked from her head with sheer force, inflicting unimaginable pain, humiliation, and deep emotional trauma.

What’s even more disturbing is the response—or lack thereof—from the school administration. Instead of taking immediate steps to ensure accountability and protection, the focus and scrutiny were insensitively redirected onto my child. This is inexcusable.

A school should be a sanctuary of learning, growth, and community. It's a place where every child deserves to feel safe and respected, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or background. Yet, the current administration at Hinsdale has failed at providing that essential safety. Principal Anna Roth, who is tasked with leading the school, has not demonstrated the necessary leadership or empathy required to foster a secure and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

This pattern of negligence and improper response to serious issues like racial harassment cannot continue without consequence. The well-being and safety of our children depend on the environment they are immersed in daily, and a crucial part of that environment starts with those who lead our educational institutions.

Therefore, we demand the resignation of Anna Roth from her position as principal of Hinsdale Middle High School. We urge the school district to take immediate action in replacing her with a leader who will prioritize student safety, uphold strong anti-racism policies, and respond adequately to incidents of harassment or violence.
