The Issue

In Canada, where collaboration should be the backbone of our national sports framework, there has been witness to the growing disconnection between the director of player and sport development and our provincial sports organizations (PSOs). Members of the community have seen firsthand how the calls for collaboration and change by the PSOs in the sport of dodgeball have been ignored. These requests, vital to the growth and development of our beloved sport, have repeatedly fallen on deaf ears.

The current director holds an immense amount of power, yet lacks the necessary collaborative spirit that is essential in fostering an inclusive and dynamic sports environment. His decisions are often made without considering the valuable insights and experiences of local and regional bodies. This top-down approach not only stifles development but also threatens the sustainability of dodgeball across the nation.

In recent months, PSOs have been vocal about their needs and have highlighted the areas where they require the director’s support to enhance player development and sport initiatives. Unfortunately, their suggestions and pleas for cooperative strategies are continually disregarded.

The lack of cooperation and acknowledgement of the PSOs' expertise in developing tailored programs for their respective regions severely hampers the growth of the sport. Decisions made in isolation at the national level fail to address the diverse needs of regions, leading to an uncoordinated and fragmented approach to sport development.

It is imperative for us to have leadership that values the contributions of all stakeholders and encourages a unified path forward for dodgeball in Canada. The resignation of the current director of player and sport development is the first crucial step toward establishing a more collaborative and effective framework.

Together, let's ensure that our sport thrives under a leadership that respects and fosters collaboration with all provincial sports organizations. We must act now to secure the future of dodgeball in Canada.
