Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Mooresville Graded School District Board Members issued the following statements:

Debbie Marsh -"...Kirk accepted collateral damage as necessary to preserve the 2nd Amendment and knowingly put himself at risk..."

Monica Bender - "How are we to be surprised that a person who regularly speaks heinous words dies in a heinous way? Yet beautifully innocent children are regularly shot at school in an equally heinous way. Neither of these is ok, but only one of them deserves outrage..."

In Mooresville, North Carolina, the duty of serving on the school board carries immense responsibility. Parents, educators, and community members entrust school board members with guiding the education and welfare of our children. It is imperative that these leaders uphold a high moral standard, compassion, and the ability to model positive behavior.

Monica Bender and Debbie Marsh, current members of the Mooresville school board, have failed to demonstrate the mindfulness and impulse control required for their roles. Their recent actions and choices have not only disappointed many within our community, but they have also set a negative precedent for leadership for future generations.

The community of Mooresville deserves leaders who are adept at nurturing a collaborative environment, fostering trust, and maintaining the highest standards of conduct. Therefore, we call for the immediate resignation of Monica Bender and Debbie Marsh from their positions on the school board.
