PTA PARENTS SHOULD NOT GET SPECIAL TREATMENT.

We demand the immediate resignation and the arrest of Jocelyne Lopez, the current Tipps PTA Treasurer. We demand the return of all PTA property, including checks. On Monday, May 20, 2024 a police report was made regarding theft, fraud, and embezzlement and the suspect is the current treasurer.

She has refused to turn over PTA property and has access to the account. She has already begun making deposits back into the account to make up for the money that was transferred into her business anccount - putting nearly $2000 back in the account is against PTA Policy and also interferes with the police investigation - obstruction and tampering. She will not allow the other signers to have the checks so they can pay out funds. 

Scholarship recipients need their funds to register for college courses!!!

People are owed reimbursement since she did not pay for the class parties.

Rotations are owed for field day.

Scholastic Bookfair has an outstanding balance and that deposit went missing under this treasurer. She reported to the membership that she saw this deposit already reflecting in the bank account. It is still unaccounted for.

She gave a treasurer’s report of around $7200 when the actual balance was around $3500. Then she reported not having enough money to do much else when Coach King repeatedly asked about field day funds and how she would be amending the budget. She said that we have to roll over $4000 to the next board and have only spent money and didn’t make enough. 

The treasurer offered to cover popsicles and then did not follow through. Rotation teachers paid instead.

This situation has already caused significant distress in our community. This occurred last year. It took months before any action was taken against the last president. It took years to get restitution. There shouldn’t be any further delay again.

It is time for accountability.

A crime is a crime and no PTA policies should be interfering with a police investigation or allowing the treasurer to remain in control of the financial documents and bank account. Especially because of her refusal to turn over everything.

Innocent people would’ve wanted to clear their name the same day.
