As a proudly patriotic South African, it hurts me that our government leaders may not uphold the ethical standards we all work so hard to maintain. This petition seeks the removal of Zanele Sifuba from her post as the MEC of Sports, Arts, and Culture in the Free State province due to her unstatesmanlike conduct which has come to light in the past.

Previous social media posts show that Sifuba has engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an alleged illegal Nigerian immigrant. Furthermore, this report surfaced prior to her appointment to the aforementioned position. This behavior could potentially damage international relationships and importantly, it goes against the codes of conduct expected from an individual in her position.

Reference to similar situations in which leaders faced ramifications for their actions highlights the necessity of this petition. Recently, Renaldo Gouws was dismissed due to social media related conduct. The process should be equally applied to all, no matter their position or status.
