Personal experiences and incidents within our educational institutions often share more about their efficacy than any report. This petition centers around a personal account, a recollection of frustration, pain, and neglect endured by my children. Their tale is one of bullying, not just from fellow students, but alarmingly, also from those who have been entrusted with their care – their teachers. When these issues were brought forward, the principal in question not only failed to address them but seemed to dismiss them entirely.

Neglect from the educational community has severe impacts on the mental health, self-esteem, and academic success of students. According to the National Bullying Prevention Center, students who experience bullying are at an increased risk for poor school adjustment, sleep difficulties, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, a study in the American Educational Research Journal recognizes that ineffective leadership can degrade the school climate, leading to a lower quality of education and increased bullying.

Given the severity of these issues and the lack of preventative measures taken by the current principal, we find it vital to demand her immediate removal from her position. We call for a leader who promotes a healthy, collaborative, and respectful environment where students can learn and grow without fear.

There are numerous other reasons she should not be in charge or children.

She herself is a bully.  She targets kids she decides are not worth her time.  She gives punishment that does not fit the action/behavior by the student.  She listens to rumors from students and uses that to try to punishment a child.  When these rumors should lead to her contacting CPS as a mandated reporter.  She does illegal searches on students, makes girls jump up and down in front of her to make sure they don't have something in their bra or underwear and she searches male students without a male teacher present.  

This year, she shortened the lunch period to 20 minutes because she needed time for her lectures for her positivity project.  The CDC says that children should get 20 minutes of SEATED time to be able to eat.  Kids are going home hungry.  And her positivity project is a joke, when she herself does not follow these suggestions. 

Please, Mrs. Russo needs to be removed from her position of principal as she is not going to protect every student and she's not going to make sure every student isn't bullied, and she will not treat every student equally.
