The presence of the Israeli flag at Seaside City Hall is deeply disturbing and disappointing for multiple humanitarian reasons. This flag is not representative of our diverse community in Seaside and Monterey County, especially those among us who have familial ties to Palestine. The display of this flag is offensive to those whose families have been affected by the atrocities committed against Palestinian children by Zionists.

In recent month, over 14,000 Palestinian children have lost their lives in Gaza and many have been beaten, harassed and unjustly detained without the right of parental or legal representation in the West Bank due to conflicts initiated by Israel (source: United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs). By flying this flag, our city's leadership sends a message that these lives do not matter. They are choosing political power over humanity and morals.

During a council meeting, it was stated that there would be no taking sides on international issues. We demand they uphold this position. The presence of an Israeli flag at our city hall clearly indicates bias towards one side in an ongoing conflict that has caused immense suffering.
