My name is David Stua, a resident of Angelina County, TX. On December 6, 2018, I was wrongfully charged with sex offenses for making a Facebook live video on the campus of Angelina College. District Attorney Janet Cassels inherited the first set of charges against me but escalated the situation by charging me with three additional sex offenses related to this video.  The video is protected under the First Amendment.  There was no solicitation of sex or any intention to do so.  It was about having the cops called on me by the college librarian for saying the word circumcision in the library. 

The charges were designed to stop me from making open records requests. 

This act is not only an abuse of power but also a clear case of official misconduct. It's important to note that in Texas, official misconduct can result in removal from office (Texas Local Government Code Chapter 87). The actions taken by DA Cassels are not representative of justice or fair legal proceedings and thus she should be removed from her position.

The misuse and overreach in this case have caused significant personal distress and tarnished my reputation within our community. This petition seeks justice not just for me but also for all residents who trust our legal system to operate fairly and without prejudice.

We call upon all concerned citizens in Angelina County to demand accountability from our public officials and ensure that they uphold their duty to serve us justly. Please sign this petition demanding the removal of District Attorney Janet Cassels due to her official misconduct.
