As a survivor of childhood abuse, this issue is deeply personal to me. It has come to my attention that Buckeye Woods Elementary School Principal, Jenniffer Kauffeld, along with a school nurse performed an illegal examination on a 5-year-old student. This act is not only unethical but also violates the child's rights and safety. Despite this grave misconduct, Principal Kauffeld has been reinstated - an action that I believe is a severe injustice to the young victim.

In Columbus, Ohio where our school resides, child abuse cases have been on the rise in recent years. According to data from Franklin County Children Services (FCCS), there were 31,399 reports of child abuse and neglect in 2019 alone. This incident at Buckeye Woods Elementary School adds another layer of concern for parents and guardians about their children's safety within educational institutions.

It is crucial that we ensure our schools are safe spaces for children where they can learn without fear or harm. The reinstatement of Principal Kauffeld sends out a wrong message - one that undermines trust in our education system and fails to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

We must demand justice for this little girl and all other students who place their trust in these institutions every day. Let us call upon the Columbus City Schools District Board to reconsider their decision and remove Jenniffer Kauffeld from her position as principal at Buckeye Woods Elementary School immediately.
